Hey there, boys and ghouls :) I hope you’re all doing well.
I haven’t stopped in in quite a while, so I thought I would drop in for a bit. The album is coming along quite nicely. I’ve gotten bass and drums all locked in over the past few weeks. Next up on the menu: guitars.
Right now, I feel like life is sort of on hold because my boyfriend’s mom is in the hospital. Until my other mother is feeling better, the album and everything else is on hold.
I always like to post about organizations I support, and this post is no exception. If you haven’t heard about I Am Second, boogie on over to www.iamsecond.com and check it out. Basically, their goal is to show people that God is first and we are second (hence the name). I’m doing some work with them coming up and I’m really excited about spreading the word.
Thank y’all for hanging out with me long enough to read this post. It really does mean the world. Rawk!

P.S. Tour dates coming soon!!!

Howdy, boys and girls. Hope you’re all doing well. Here’s what I’ve been up to.
First off, since the last time I posted there was a tragedy in Japan. First, they were hit by the fifth-biggest earthquake of the last century. Next, a massive tsunami triggered by the earthquake devastated the northeastern coast. As if that weren’t enough, a large nuclear plant had a partial meltdown that has been declared a bigger disaster than Three Mile Island. There are millions without power, water, or food. They need our help. You can help out the victims in Japan by texting REDCROSS to 90999. This will donate ten dollars to the Red Cross to help bring help to those in need in Japan. I donated, and you should too. For a more diverse list of charities taking donations for Japan, check out this article from The Guardian UK.
In other news, I have officially started tracking drums for the album. I’m so excited to finally be doing an album. I’m recording it all myself (with some help from my best friend and musical partner in crime, Sir Mateus) and it’s really a personal challenge for me. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but never really had the time or inclination to go through with it…so here I am, doing it. I can’t wait to get it done and out there for you guys. I hope you like it. :)
I also just put up a BandCamp site where you can purchase CD’s and merch from yours truly. I’m still working on getting it all set up, but you can check it out at mirandaday.bandcamp.com. Stay tuned.
Thanks again for checking in. Remember to keep rockin! Peace, y’all. :)

howdy
What’s up, everyone? Just thought I’d pop in for an update. :)
I’ve been checking out some new bands lately, and I thought I’d share them with you guys. Three of my top faves are Hey Monday, The Pretty Reckless, and VersaEmerge. Whether you like pop-punk, grungy alternative, or experimental rock with a post-hardcore feel, you’re sure to find something that pleases you.
As for my music, we’re pretty much done with the demo phase…now we’re on to the real hard work, which is doing the actual tracking for the stuff that’s actually going to make it into your hands. It’s going to be a ton of work, but most definitely worth it in the end. I’m just ready for it to be done and out there!
I hope my little note finds all you dear readers happy and hopeful. As Journey would say, don’t stop believin’.
Over and out. :D

long days
Hey there, boys and ghouls :) These last few days have been crazy busy, and I’m finally taking a break to post a few words.
Everyone send your prayers and good thoughts to the victims of the NZ earthquake and all those fighting for their rights in Libya. When tragedy and hardship strike, the Lord is hard at work sending help and hope to those who need it most.
I just bought my first pair of TOMS shoes, and I encourage you all to do the same! They have tons of cool styles, and they’re super comfy. I know all the hipster kids wear them, but hey…you don’t have to be a hipster to be a part of a great cause. Being charitable is always the cool thing to do.
Work on the CD has been at a halt for the last few weeks because my band has been hard at work cranking out some new material. We’ll be in slo-mo for another week while Sir Mateus is in Alaska, but I’m going to lay down some vocals and work on mixing until he gets back to lay down his guitar parts.
I hope all of you are out there making your dreams come true and living it up your way…being yourself is the way to go.
Later gators! You’re all rad to the max. :)

what up :)
Hey, all you chicks and dudes. As always, I have news and thoughts. :)My first thought is…if you haven’t bought some TOMS shoes, you definitely need to check them out. Their philosophy as a company is “One for One”. Basically, if you buy a pair of TOMS shoes, another pair is given to a child in need. Wearing TOMS is a great way to look cool and help out the world, so you should most definitely give them a look-see. You can shop and read all about them at toms.com.
On a side note, I’m playing a few tunes at the Common Grounds Music & Art Showcase this Saturday starting at 7pm. You can check out all the details on my shows page. Come out and show your support for tons of rad local artists and musicians!
We had a setback on recording the album, but it was actually a blessing in disguise. Me and my musical partner in crime Sir Mateus are hard at work tracking whenever we’re not working at our grown-up jobs or taking care of vital human functions like eating and sleeping. The album should be done in the next month or so…then the fun begins. We’ll be doing a little tour in support of it, and we’ll even have my dear friend David handling percussion for us live. More details when we get closer to the release date. :)
Thanks again to everyone (all three of you, ha) who keeps up with my music and who reads this blog. You don’t know just how rad you are! God bless you guys.

pause for the cause
Hey there, everyone :)
I mentioned in my last post that I’ve gotten really into following world events lately. I’ve also found a few causes that I support, and I really want to share them with you guys.
The first one is XXXchurch. XXXchurch is aimed at bringing awareness, openness, and accountability to those affected by pornography. As someone who has been personally affected by the pornography addiction of folks that I love, I think this is a great organization. One of their slogans is “Jesus Loves Porn Stars”, and these guys even run booths at the big adult conventions where they hand out Bibles and minister to folks. It’s pretty stinkin’ cool.
The other one is To Write Love on Her Arms. To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA has become better known in the past couple of years because a ton of cool celebs like the members of Paramore and Switchfoot promote their cause. Basically, if you want to be cool, you should support them, too. :) I’ve personally struggled with depression, and so have some of the folks I love most. The biggest tool in helping a person with depression or an addiction is support and love. Reach out to someone you love, and support To Write Love on Her Arms.
On a musical note (ha), we’ve got eight songs tracked on guitar for the LP. That leaves two more…then on to bass, drums, and beyond! I can’t wait.
Stay tuned. :)

the news
You know, boys and ghouls…I’ve really made it my goal lately to be more aware of what’s going on in the world. I had a very cool professor in college named Mr. Washburn who would always tell us to “remember that the world is bigger than just the county you live in”, and I’ve really been thinking about that lately.
Seeing all the struggle that’s going down in other parts of the world makes you realize just how blessed you are and how small your problems are. I’ve been following the unrest in Tunisia and the issues with former Haitian dictator “Baby Doc” Duvalier the last week or so, and it’s unbelievable the things that are happening.
I want to encourage all of you out there to find an area of news that’s interesting to you and follow it. Whether it’s political unrest, scandals in business, or something else…stay in the know. As Josh said in Clueless, “Hey, in some parts of the universe, maybe not in contempo-casual, but in some parts, it’s considered cool to know what’s going on in the world.” I use a site called My Way News for all my news; it’s not cluttered with a bunch of ads and junk, and it’s totally free. I highly recommend it. :)
In music news, demoing for the LP is going great…my musical partner in crime, Sir Mateus, and I have been hard at work tracking out the songs. Stay tuned!

lp
Hey there boys and ghouls :) I just thought I’d pop in and let you all know that I’ve officially decided to finally record my LP. It’ll include the five songs that have been floating around out there forever as my unofficial EP, as well as five more that I’ve been playing live for a while but never got around to recording.
I’m going to start demoing everything this week…stay tuned for updates. :)
Thank you all for your support and love and kind words. A lot of musicians don’t make much money, and spend a lot of their time away from the people they love…our friends out on the road and out in the world make spreading our message worthwhile.
Keep rockin!
